Mission Statement
Boost Your Photography (formerly Archaeofrog Photography) is a resource for beginning and hobbyist photographers at all levels of experience. The goal is to provide instructive content and projects that will inspire your creativity and inform your photographic journey. As travel played an early role in my interest in photography, I also want to share ways to make the most of travel opportunities and to apply the same principles of travel photography to your daily life and interests. Whether you travel near or travel far … capture the moment.
Who or what is an Archaeofrog?
I uncovered this pot under a wall in Pompeii in 2001. |
The name Archaeofrog came about when I needed a pseudonym for letterboxing, a hobby that involves searching out and finding hidden letterboxes using clues and sometimes puzzles. (Letterboxing has been around far longer than geocaching and does not require a GPS.) Letterboxes contain hand-carved stamps and finders log in to the boxes using their own stamp that represents them. At the time I started letterboxing, I had a small frog stamp lying around, which I used until I learned to carve my own stamps. Combine with archaeology, and you have an Archaeofrog!
365 Project and Other Ways to Connect
A 365 project is a commitment to take and upload a photo everyday for a year, and I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to learn more about themselves and about photography. I started my 365 project on January 2nd, 2011 and passed the 1000 mark in September 2013. You can follow along on my daily journey and see past photos at 365project.org/archaeofrog .
